A program of Island Community House a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 2019
Village Neighbors, a program of the Island Community House, helps older residents of Chincoteague age in place in their home and community by offering practical help and social connection. Transportation, help with household tasks, help with technology, friendly home visits, social events, and errands are provided by a group of intergenerational volunteers. These volunteers choose to give of their time and energy to help their neighbors ages 60 and better. We are part of a national, grassroots movement of ordinary citizens who have recognized we can successfully organize to help ourselves. Village Neighbors has become a reality as local governments, churches, friends, and families increasingly cannot meet all the needs of seniors.
